It's booked!

It seem's like the ball has officially started rolling..

In my last blog post, my intention of traveling overseas to Europe and having the adventure of my life, was still an idea, yet to be set in motion. However, it was only a few days after that post that my plans were being turned into a reality.

Initially we headed out to our local shopping centre to just "discuss" our trip and try and work out who we should speak to to book and where we should go etc. As we passed STA Travel we spontaneously decided to go in and try speak to someone who could give us some ideas or tips in planning our trip. Roughly an hour and a half later, we emerged from STA with booked return flights, a destination to start our trip and finish, as well as a Contiki Tour picked and booked.

(when I say booked return flights and Contiki Tour we haven't yet paid them!)

Wow.

This was really happening.

As you can see from the above picture, there are a lot of booklets filled with information I am going to have to attempt to learn. Europe is huge as you would all know, and although 6 months is a long amount of time- its not enough to do everything!

It was pretty full on having so much decided in such a short amount of time, and also so suddenly and this was particularly concerning for my parents. Having to convince them that all this was in motion, as of one trip to the travel agent was hard, especially with the duration of our trip officially being 6 months. Having all this in motion also officially started the making of my budget. The price of the flights and the Contiki Tour combined convinced me that money does not grow on tree's and that this trip was going to be very expensive.

The more official details of my trip, I will include in a separate blog post just to avoid drowning myself out in long paragraphs of explanation. But yeah, I am going to Europe this year and I cannot wait.

Just thought I'd let you all catch up with my life at the moment, and the beginning of my GAP YEAR.

Thanks for reading and goodnight!

It's the very beginning..

I've never had my own blog before, so this is both exciting and quite worrying as to whether it will be a success!

I guess I want to start this blog to not only document my own experiences, but to share them with you and the world as I embark on my adventure's as a school-riddeen, new-born adult! The pressures of school with exams, assessments, peer-pressure and drama as well as the daily 6am wake-up are over, and I am ready to embark on the the first chapter of the rest of my life.

One thing I'll quickly note is the letter I or i. The efficiency of technology has unfortunately made me slack when it comes to capitalising my I's, so hopefully this blog will also improve my grammar and punctuation!! So sorry if you start to notice it. :)

Anyways, this year- the big 2 0 1 4 - is going to be my GAP YEAR!
This decision was made several times, with my original commitment being around the middle of last year, however, with ATAR's, university offers and options as well as the big money $$ issue I was finally able to agree to this exciting adventure. I plan on exploring Europe with my best friend Kate for around 4-6 months leaving some time in the middle of this year. I can't wait! So much research is needed, first of places I can discover, and new experiences I can create so suggestions are more then welcome! I don't think the whole idea of travelling independently with the whole of Europe practically at my fingertips has hit me as much as it will in the months to come, but I know this will be the experience of MY lifetime and I cannot wait to turn it into the best.

That's my short but sweet introduction into my blog and my year to come. It's only the very beginning but so much more is to come!!

Thanks for reading, and goodnight! :)
